Feeling creatively blocked can invoke inadequacy, doubt, imposter syndrome, and extreme shame. These are all normal expressions of the archetypal ‘underworld’-not the same as fearful depictions of hell, though there can be an internal turmoil that pervades all knowledge and higher wisdom.
There is a downward pull, a relentless undulating motion to stop grasping at straws or rummaging through past ideas that may have worked for the person you were before now. You are not her/him anymore, the old ways and coping strategies will not serve you here in this terrain.
Confidence continues to drain from your dreams and intentions, the emotion has you, gripping and squeezing every ounce of energy you have.
You are left with a pit of dread… as if ideas, solutions, or inspiration will never visit you again. The analytical mind knows this to be false, yet the ego is caught in a complex vibrating to a frequency of defeat in a mode of self-preservation. Fingers crossed, rituals commence, and reckless psychological negotiations and bargaining begin. The muse has gone silent.
The creative/writer shifts from inspired to feeling as if they are experiencing the metaphorical death of the soul; when in actuality it is an invitation from the depths of the soul.
An invitation to go deeper; an inward slide is required, it takes a strong and stubborn creator to fight the urge to look around outside of themselves, and to shift this focus back within, to see in the dark.
If you find yourself stuck, blocked, frustrated, uninspired, or in a state of depression over your creative expressions….
Perhaps you are unknowingly hugging the surface- looking outward for a shiny, glitzy, golden form of inspiration instead of surrendering inward to the magic waiting within the places you are afraid to venture.
Fall inward and you will discover an inner cavern waiting to be found. This inner world will reveal abandoned shut-down spaces, human experiences or feelings that have been ignored, rejected, or abandoned…. by the self.
Don’t stay on the surface, dive into the depths and the soul of your creative work will be restored, as long as you stop turning away from the radiant darkness of your being.
Light & dark are both powerful teachers, and catalysts for creative inspiration, only leaning on one dampens the other and creates inner friction.
As above, so below~
